The Sleep Center Technologist, reporting to the Sleep Lab Manager, performs quality sleep studies for all patients under minimal supervision to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.Facilities all aspects of study completion and reporting.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Performs quality sleep recordings by collecting, analyzing, and integrating pertinent patient history information, properly preparing the patient according to age, conducting the examination, and preparing the recording for the physician interpretation
Implements appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patients’ safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and/or bi-level positive airway pressure (PAP) and oxygen administration and informs, through documentation, the physician of changes in the patient’s condition or abnormalities on the recording, when necessary
Provides patient education according to established guidelines including communicating with patients and family members ion instructions in techniques to optimize their care while at the Sleep Center, as well as after testing is completed.
Maintains supplies and equipment for patient care and maintain an orderly and efficient system for storage and retrieval of patient information
Adheres to all organizational policies, practices and federal or state regulations pertaining to patient care, privacy, and quality assurance.Actively supports and participates quality improvement initiatives.
Perform daytime testing including, but not limited to, daytime sleep studies, Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) Nap’s and Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
High School and minimum of one (1) year experience full time in polysomnography OR Associate degree in Polysomnography
Current CPR/BLS Certification
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists
Preferred qualifications:
Associate degree in Polysomnography Technology
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) or equivalent
Basic EKG recognition course
