Director of Nursing
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a registered nurse at the executive level with the knowledge and ability to plan, organize, supervise and direct the general nursing care and treatment services of the hospital. The DON plans, develops and implements nursing programs, policies and procedures; provides consultative, directive, and advisory services for the purpose of maintaining nursing standards of care for the facility. The DON functions as a liaison between the Nursing Department, other disciplines, and the community; ensures that the resources necessary for the provision of nursing services (i.e., personnel, equipment, budget, etc.) are available and that all nursing standards and regulations are met to comply with survey and licensure requirements.
