The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care at the David Geffen School of Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking an EMS Educator to join our EMS Education team. EMS Educators work under the Paramedic Program Director and collaborate closely with Medical Directors and the management team within the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care.
As a critical member of our EMS Program, you will work as a part of a high functioning team to support the premier EMS education program in the nation. The successful candidate will support all aspects of the program, including but not limited to coordinating, developing, and providing lectures in the Paramedic primary, hybrid, preparatory, refresher, and continuing education programs, collaborating on the development and delivery of psychomotor skills and simulation programs, supporting the clinical/field internship portion of the program, innovating and researching new learning methods to promote student success.
EMS Educators will be a student advocate in the learning process, create an active learning environment, and maintain a high level of industry competence. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, where three principles guide the culture: Do Things Right, Make Things Better, and Be Kind.
Please note that qualified candidates for this position will most likely start at the mid-salary range.
Hourly range: $30.56-$60.82
Qualifications
Required:
Current licensure as a Paramedic,.
Ability to obtain Paramedic Accreditation in the County of Los Angeles.
Baccalaureate degree and/or equivalent years of experience and training in health related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field (Masters preferred).
Minimum of five (5) years EMS work experience on an ambulance, fire department or in a hospital emergency department.
Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in emergency medical services or equivalent health care setting.
Previous experience coordinating, delivering, and evaluating education courses.
Demonstrated experience with distant education programs and supportive technology (ie. Adobe Connect, LMS, etc.) as an instructor and/or student (preferred).
Detailed knowledge and skill in prehospital care procedures and techniques.
Detailed knowledge of EMT and Paramedic and related program course policies, objectives, and requirements (preferred).
Detailed knowledge of all pertinent provider level skills and the ability to provide instruction of same including being able to perform and effectively teach required skills.
Excellent communication and instructional presentation skills.
Must be able to work independently and follow through on assignments with attention to detail and minimal direction.
Proven experience demonstrating organizational, multi-tasking, and "follow through" skills.
Interpersonal skills to excel in relations with supervisors, staff, students, and the public.
Skill in working and collaborating effectively as part of a team.
Must be able to work day, evenings and/or weekends as programs are scheduled and required to meet student learning needs.
