The Athletic Trainer Specialist provides athletic training and rehabilitative care to injured athletes and patients in settings such as schools, school-associated athletic events, and professional athletic events in the community. Educates the public and patients on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues as needed.
Serves as a dedicated point of contact for MultiCare Yakima Memorial for Athletic Training needs and services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assists in the formulation and oversees implementation of management policies related to the athletic trainer business model of the organization. Oversees guidelines and workflows working in collaboration with community schools to support the program. 2. Participate in department budgeting. Assists in audits and contract negotiation with the system level team. 3. Assists with planning long- or short-term business objectives related to his department. 4. Educates the assigned business partners and work towards achieving financial goals. 5. Provides sports event medical coverage to include pre-event taping, player preparation, assessment, immediate care and medical management during contests. Covers assigned related activities and events. 6. Demonstrates an ability to perform prevention, assessment, immediate care, basic injury treatment, reconditioning and rehabilitation of injuries as set forth by the NATA Board of Certification (BOC). This includes proper taping, strapping, bracing and fitting of athletic equipment techniques, as well as recognition of underlying trauma and athletic injuries/illnesses in patients.
7. Abides by all established policy and procedures specific to the hired healthcare facility and outreach program(s)/event(s). Carries out all prescribed treatments and recommendations as per standard of care guidelines and advanced guidelines (when appropriate) made by the medical director/provider or clinical therapist. 8. Prepares and maintains proper documentation of injury status and rehabilitation, including proper communication with athlete, coaches, family members, and healthcare providers of important aspects of patients present condition and follow-up care plan. 9. Works with providers and other allied health professionals to deliver quality care to student athletes and refers athletes for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures, including subsequent injury tracking. 10. Assists with case management. Schedules athlete treatment and/or other intervention as necessary. 11. Determines an athletes physical readiness to participate in a given activity, based on normal anatomical structure and function, physiological demand and response to exercise, biomechanical demands of exercise, nutritional demands, and standards of care set forth by NATA-BOC standards/guidelines and State Licensure Laws. 12. Presents education programs for athletes. 13. Researches new athletic training techniques, procedures and equipment. Recommends new equipment and supplies to ensure optimum quality of athletes care. 14. Assists with the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures for new programs/events related to the Athletic Training/Sports Medicine Advantage department as requested by the department manager. 15. Manages a flexible schedule based on the athletic training needs of contracts.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelors degree in Athletic Training required. Masters degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of one year of athletic training experience required. Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Athletic Trainer licensure required. American Heart Association BLS required. BOC certified or certification-eligible required.

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $67,724.80 - $90,195.46 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicants years of experience align.
