The role you’ll contribute:
This Registered Nurse candidate audits every bariatric surgery patient's Epic chart post surgically and abstracts information/ data to submit to the American College of surgeon's national quality patient registry.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Collection and Reporting
Identifies 100 percent of bariatric surgery patients for inclusion in the data registry.
Collects preoperative, intraoperative, 30 days postoperative, and long-term (six months and annual thereafter) follow-up data components for the program through the effective utilization of the hospital medical record systems and through a coordinated effort with individual surgeon office staff.
Identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process.
Demonstrates appropriate utilization of resources necessary to obtain valid, reliable data entry into the program.
Utilizes software applications for data collection and analysis.
Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of data into the programs database.
Work Effectively with Hospital and Individual Surgeon Office Staff.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
·Strong customer service experience
·Strong written and verbal communication skills
·Proficient in Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
·Strong EPIC Experience.
·Database data entry and/management experience
·Basic statistical knowledge
·Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
·Flexibility in supporting other areas of the department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
·2 years of RN experience required in a healthcare setting.
.Registered Nurse of Illinois, BSN Preferred.
·1 year of experience in a hospital surgery department/clinic or with clinical research or medical records.
·Clinical chart review and abstraction experience.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION Required:
·Registered Nurse Required. BSN Preferred.
