Description
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks an MD or MD/PhD Physician-Scientist to join our growing Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology as faculty on the tenure track. The appointee will join an outstanding Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group of clinicians and scientists with expertise in hematologic malignancies, pediatric sarcomas and embryonal tumors, central nervous system malignancies, stem cell transplant and immunotherapy, and be welcomed into the highly collaborative environment of the University of Virginia. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communications skills, share our institutional values of commitments to professionalism and integrity, personal accountability, excellence across all our missions and steadfast respect for others while developing an independent scientific program aiming to serve the world through discovery.
Ideal candidates will be wet or dry laboratory-based investigators with an exceptional record of research accomplishment and whose research programs emphasize benign or malignant disorders of hematopoiesis, central nervous system (CNS) cancers, non-CNS solid tumors of children, immune deficiency states or disorders of hemostasis. Applicants with clinical and/or translational research interests are also encouraged to apply. An applicant’s track record should demonstrate achievements or strong potential for developing an innovative research program that can attract sustained extramural funding. The chosen candidate will be appointed at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level and receive a generous start up package and protected time to enable establishment of their research program. Adjunct appointments appropriate to the candidate’s research focus are available to allow participation in degree-granting graduate and MD/PhD training programs. The appointee will have access to a broad array of shared resources across grounds to enable their research.

Qualifications
Candidates must have at least an MD or DO degree and be board-certified/board-eligible in Hematology-Oncology.
