Nicklaus Children's Hospital, a 307-bed freestanding children's hospital and ACS-verified Level I trauma center, and Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children's Health System, are seeking an exceptional candidate to lead the Section of Palliative Care. The ideal applicant should be board certified in palliative care and have significant clinical experience post-fellowship. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate evidence of progressive management responsibilities and leadership in an academic or educational environment.
The section chief will be responsible for setting the strategy for the Section of Palliative Care/Pediatric Advanced Care Team in collaboration with NCPS and NCHS leadership. The role oversees all clinical care, quality metrics, teaching and research, with additional responsibilities including: provide medical leadership, oversight of clinical and operational activities, lead the quality work of the clinical program and promote professionalism and a culture of accountability. Applicants should possess a passion for advocacy and improving care for all children, which includes delivering on Nicklaus Children’s brand promise of a care environment where every child matters most.
The Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital specializes in providing comfort and support for children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families. PACT members serve as an extension to inpatient clinical teams, with the goal of enhancing quality of life by providing the child relief from symptoms of serious illness, while also promoting stress reduction for the entire family. The team includes palliative care physicians, nurse practitioners, child life specialists, music therapists, social workers and spiritual leaders. Candidates should be compassionate, possess a passion for advocacy and enjoy spending time listening to patients and their families, working to ensure all involved know and understand care and support options.
