Access is defined as getting the right patient with the right provider in the right location at the right time across their care journey. Working in tandem with the Access Organization, the Access Medical Director (AMD) is appointed by the Chief Medical Officer, Ambulatory Services, as the physician dyad partner for the Senior Director, Patient Access. You will report to the Chief Medical Officer, Ambulatory Services and work closely with the Senior Director, Patient Access supporting and championing clinical operational and administrative activities related to patient care business services across the UCLA Health Ambulatory enterprise. A solid dyad partnership between the AMD and Senior Director, Patient Access, will secure the full spectrum of leadership skills needed to deliver strong management and change agency to improve enterprise access initiatives across multidisciplinary groups. This role will be 50% clinical and 50% administrative time.

The University of California, Los Angeles is required to provide an estimate of the salary range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Salary offers are determined based on candidate qualifications and experience. The target salary range for this position is $275,000 to $350,000 (annual).
Qualifications
A board-certified MD or DO in any specialty with an unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of California.
Advanced degree (e.g., MPH, MHA, MS, MBA) in related field (highly desired)
Is a practicing clinician with an excellent clinical reputation, respected by peers and at least 5 years in clinical operations at a large healthcare organization or integrated delivery system with oversight for ambulatory services
Academic rank of Associate Professor or above (highly desired)
Understands the opportunities and challenges in managing access at an enterprise level
At least 3-5 years of leadership experience in improving access within his/her department (highly desired)
Experience in establishing strategic priorities and implementation of large-scale initiatives.
Experience in data analytics and data reporting, including familiarity with current usage of AI and machine learning.
Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating operational workflows.
The ability to build collaborative relationships and work with a large number of diverse stakeholders.
Experience in effectively supporting and mentoring leaders of multidisciplinary teams.
Experience utilizing the approaches and methods of process improvement and implementation science as evidenced by achieving targeted outcomes.
A thorough understanding of modern healthcare business practices is required.
Ability to communicate complex topics and present the issues in a clear manner to facilitate clarity and decision-making.
