CCMC is consistently the highest ranked pediatric urology service in New York by USNWR and the only one with an ACGME-accredited Fellowship program that started in 1993. We train residents from several NY residency programs and have supported over one dozen residents to pursue fellowship training in pediatric urology. We have a close relationship with our adult colleagues led by Dr. Louis Kavoussi.
The Division of Pediatric Urology has a long and proud history and is currently in a new phase of growth. The footprint of the Northwell Health System continues to grow offering opportunities in the immediate Long Island and local areas. State-of-the-art resources, including new operating rooms, Da Vinci Xi, and urodynamic equipment in addition to a vibrant Cohen’s faculty, offer a superior environment in which to provide comprehensive quality care for children, adolescents, and adults with congenital urologic conditions. We are seeking highly qualified and self-motivated individuals of all academic rank to join the current faculty in providing clinical care and to grow professionally in academic medicine.
Cohen Children’s Medical Center opened in 1983 as the New York metropolitan area’s only hospital designed exclusively for children. Today, it is the largest pediatric teaching hospital in the region, with over 750,000 visits annually and serving 1.8 million children in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. It is the tertiary pediatric medical center of the Northwell Health System and the only Level-1 Pediatric Trauma Center on Long Island. An active Pediatric Kidney Transplant program is in place, and there is a deep commitment at every level of the Northwell Leadership to the Heart Transplant programmatic build with live transplantation planning underway. Cohen Children’s Medical Center is among the top-rated children’s hospitals in New York State and has received the highest ranking in New York for pediatric nephrology, urology, pulmonology and lung surgery, and are nationally ranked for superior care in a total of eight specialties, including Diabetes and Endocrinology, according to US News & World Report’s 2023-2024 Best Children’s Hospitals. As the largest provider of pediatric health services in the state, Cohen Children’s has been ranked among the nation’s top children’s hospitals by US News for 16 consecutive years.
