Role Purpose
The Field Technology Support (FTS) Engineer is a subject matter expert on multiple FTS technologies (PCs, Printers, Phones, Mobile devices, etc.?) and has a strong understanding of how these technologies may be utilized to support business processes. The FTS Engineer is capable or configuring and deploying technology as needed in large projects but is also an analytical thinker who can support troubleshooting issues in the field and working to find root cause. The FTS Engineer is committed to detailed documentation ensuring procedures are correct and continuously updated for improvements. The FTS engages with 100's of end users in any month and as such must have a pleasant demeanor and enjoy supporting people with technical issues and needs.
Responsibilities
Installs or removes hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools, including handover to the client.
Contributes to the development of installation procedures and standards. Uses standard procedures and diagnostic tools to test installations, correct problems, and document results.
Records details of all components that have been installed and removed. Assists users and follows agreed procedures for further help or escalation.
Applies tools, techniques and processes to track, log and correct information related to configuration items. Verifies and approves changes ensuring the protection of assets and components from unauthorized change, diversion and inappropriate use.
Performs audits to check the accuracy of the information and undertakes any necessary corrective action under direction.
