The Manager of Clinical Informatics 1 serves as the primary resource at the local level for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) & Health Information Technology (HIT) implementation, post implementation help, and as the liaison to Information Systems (IS). The Manager of Clinical Informatics 1 will work closely with Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) IS to coordinate and head operations through the EHR and other HIT related implementations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Knows about the continuum of service lines that work jointly to help hospital/clinic operations. May serve as the Operational Advocate for a service line. Coordinates scheduling & logistics for conducting User Acceptance Testing.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) on business conclusions with informatics impact, end to end workflow and integrated build. Serves as coach to analysts, coordinators, and specialists within the department.
Assembles team accountable for issue resolution and helps in identifying any technical resources that may be needed. Provides help to staff when needed to help with conclusion-making and prioritization of work. Establishes appropriate routes of escalation. Executes tactics to help strategic initiatives that are in-line with the overall informatics strategy.
Partners with Information Services/Project Management to head key workstreams at the local level within a project, e.g. discovery, overall design sessions, command center staffing and logistics for Health Information Technology projects.
Examines and presents complex information to key stakeholders, both heads and end users, leveraging a broad knowledge of technology functionality and workflows across multiple modules. Utilizes robust skill sets with appropriate research and presentation delivery. Stays open-minded and encourages others to bring new perspectives.
Sets and redefines priorities and reorganizes staff to increase the group?s response capacity to internal and external demands. Assumes accountability for work delegated to others (peers, team members, etc.) Resolves conflict among team members sensitively and fairly.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Four or more years of experience in a clinical environment required. Four or more years of experience working in informatics role preferred.
Epic Certification and Informatics Certification (ANCC, HIMSS) required.
Licensed clinician such as nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, pharmacy technician, dietitian, respiratory therapist, speech pathologist, etc. preferred.
Ability to utilize critical thinking to know, document and optimize complex processes with appropriate solutions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships across organizational lines.
Ability to make operational steps around how work gets done - quality and productivity standards, measurable goals for employees and project teams, etc.
Ability to use broader targets to establish how best to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
Ability to make or approve effective hiring and termination conclusions.
Ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, and establish procedures that affect the managed organization.
Basic business knowledge, including but not limited to: annual planning and goal setting, adherence to budgets, employee compensation, compliance and risk management.
Advanced computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
