The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is seeking to hire a motivated Laboratory Assistant II who will provide crucial technical support within the research laboratory. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including the maintenance of laboratory equipment, handling ordering and receiving processes, and managing inventory. In this role, you will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) in various molecular and cell biology techniques, including but not limited to cloning, sequencing, PCR, DNA/RNA purification/preparation, immunoprecipitation, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoreses, immunoblotting, and tissue culture. A candidate that is organized and pays attention to detail is highly desired.
Target hourly rate: $22.02-$25.90
Qualifications
Required:
Knowledge of basic genetics, molecular biology, and biochemical principles; Ability to use basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, PCR, etc;
Demonstrated ability to calculate concentrations of solutions as necessary; Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form;
Ability to maintain laboratory readiness for future experiments;
Ability to create and maintain records accurately; Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results;
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and students;
Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint. interest in website design/maintenance a plus;
Knowledge of laboratory equipment and survey techniques; Dependability and accuracy in tasks assigned.
