The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is hiring a Staff Research Associate I to conduct routine molecular biology experiments, including PCR, western blotting, molecular cloning, and tissue culture with 2D mammalian cell lines. Responsibilities include cell line expansion, cancer biology assays, mycoplasma testing, cell line fingerprinting, and freezing/thawing cell lines. The associate will analyze experimental results, maintain detailed records, and ensure a clean, organized lab while adhering to safety regulations. Duties also include cleaning glassware, autoclaving, maintaining equipment and supplies, preparing basic stock solutions, ordering lab supplies, developing safety protocols, and assisting in training new lab members.
Hourly range: $26.52-$31.63
Qualifications
Required:
Knowledge of basic genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles;
Ability to use basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, PCR, etc;
Familiarity with techniques including SDS-PAGE, western blotting, and cloning;
Demonstrated ability to calculate concentrations of solutions as necessary;
Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form;
Ability to maintain laboratory readiness for future experiments;
Ability to create and maintain records accurately;
Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students;
BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology or related field;
Previous experience in a research environment.
