The Division of Metabolic Disorders at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) has two available positions for the 2025 – 2026 academic year. This ACGME-accredited program is part of the UCLA Intercampus Medical Biochemical Genetics Training Program. Information about the training faculty can be found at this link.
The Program will prepare trainees to care for patients with proven and suspected inborn errors of metabolism (including patients with lysosomal storage disorders and infants identified via newborn screening), order, and interpret biochemical and diagnostic test results. In addition, research opportunities abound, including clinical trialist or translational research formal training. Trainees will also have an opportunity to see patients at the UCLA Medical Biochemical Genetics site in Westwood, CA.
CHOC is a 266 bed tertiary Children's hospital with all pediatric subspecialties. The Division of Metabolic disorders at CHOC is staffed by a vibrant team of biochemical geneticists, nutritionists, genetic counselors, biochemical laboratory technicians, nurse practitioner, and social workers. We are the newborn screen referral center for metabolic disorders much of Southern California and provide care for many inpatients, outpatients, and infusion patients.
