Role Purpose
The Inpatient Coding Quality Coordinator is responsible for auditing the inpatient coding/abstracting quality in accordance with official coding and reimbursement guidelines. This includes serving as a coding subject matter expert, providing guidance on documentation integrity to support compliant coding, and identifying patterns and trends for educational opportunities.
Responsibilities
Reviews medical record documentation to ensure coding and abstracting assigned is complete and accurate in accordance with IPPS using ICD-10- CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Classification systems.
Serves as subject matter expert for Enterprise Coding. Proactively identifies issues or trends and reports to Coding Leadership as appropriate.
Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with CDI, Quality, Compliance and other departments as appropriate.
Assists in development and delivery of coding education as requested.
