? Baylor Scott and White Central Region is looking for a mid-career PhD social scientist, ideally with a focus on epidemiology or health services research, to join an existing senior PhD social scientist as part of a growing research program in the Department of Medicine.
? This position is fully funded by a generous endowment for the first 3 years, after which the candidate will be expected to have 50% external funding.
? The candidate will have academic appointments with Baylor College of Medicine and the BSW Center for Applied Health Research, thus fostering additional opportunities for collaboration.
? This position offers access to a large vertically integrated healthcare system with >4M lives, ideal for the departmental focus on population health research and epidemiology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience as a researcher, with a track record of extramural funding - at least a career development award, preferably RO1 or equivalent.
Advanced research training in public health, epidemiology, health services or a related field is required. Experience with informatics is a plus.
· Strong analytical skills with proficiency in health services research methods, including multi-level modeling, cluster randomization, and interrupted time series analyses. Experience working with electronic health records and claims data required..
· Established record of peer-reviewed publications.
· Ability to effectively collaborate with clinicians and navigate the infrastructure of a large healthcare system.
· Ability to exercise a high degree of independence, creativity, foresight, and judgment in planning, organizing, and implementing multiple scientific research projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborate with the Vice Chair Dr. Linda Highfield and Chair Dr. Michael Volk to grow the departmental research program
2. 50% of time will be dedicated to the candidates? personal research
3. 50% of time will be in supporting role, assisting with statistical analysis and project development for other investigators
4. Provide educational support relevant to clinical research to staff physicians, physicians-in-training, nurses and other relevant staff
5. Assist Vice Chair in activities related to clinical research program development, operations and regulatory compliance
6. Promote participation in clinical research by both staff (as investigators) and patients (as subjects)
7. Mentor junior investigators and promote collaborative investigative relationships amongst Departmental clinician-researchers and other colleagues (intra- or extra-mural)
8. In partnership with the Vice Chair and colleagues at Baylor College of Medicine, develop a research training program in healthcare delivery (CAQ or Masters)
