Research Postdoctoral Fellow

Baylor Scott and White North Texas Region is looking for an PhD social scientist, ideally with a focus on social work, public health or health services research, to join a senior PhD social scientist in the PACER Center - Patient and Community Engaged Research Center. The Research Postdoctoral Fellow is a trainee working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career in clinical research. This position will train in clinical and translational research methodology, practices and programs with a focus on mental health.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

• Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced scientific research projects.
• Evaluates and examines data.
• Assists in establishing new research protocols and procedures, as requested.
• Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

• Must be a new graduate of a PhD/doctoral program in in social work, public health, health services or a related field.
• Interest in applying for early career funding such as a career development award, pilot funding, or foundation funding.
• Advanced research training in social work, public health, health services or a related field and Interest in patient and community-based research.
• Interest in health systems research and learning health systems science with strong analytical skills in health services research methods.
• Early success with peer-reviewed publications.
• Ability to exercise a high degree of independence and judgment in planning, organizing, and implementing scientific research projects.
