Cedars-Sinai's ED, with 60 patient beds, is a Level I Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, Level III Geriatric Care ED, STEMI Receiving Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center and Paramedic Base Station. As a GENE Registered Nurse IV in our ED you are responsible and accountable for the supervision and application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care for the specialty patient population of identified patients 65 and older.
You are an expert clinician who demonstrates a high standard of knowledge as the geriatric content expert.
You consistently demonstrate excellence in all areas of nursing practice including nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration.
You will collaborate with various disciplines including physicians, case managers, social workers, pharmacists, physical therapists, and others to help determine appropriate disposition.
You will support the multidisciplinary team in decision-making by acting as a geriatric content expert.
You serve as a resource to the nursing staff, the unit, the organization, and the community to promote the advancement of nursing.
You apply clinical knowledge regarding standard of care to consolidate interventions for time and cost savings.
You demonstrate knowledge of regulatory requirements in patient assignment making delegations of tasks, documentation and oversee care for the delivery team.
You demonstrate a dedication of customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
You demonstrate leadership through initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
You will participate in research activities within the ED and/or the hospital.
You manage complex, unpredictable patient care situations and are a nursing leader.
BSN or higher from an accredited school of nursing
Licenses/Certifications:
California State RN License required
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications (ACLS, PALS)
Nursing Specialty Certification (Geriatric Emergency Nurse Education (GENE) or Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders (NICHE) certification required.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years acute RN experience to include 3 years experience in specialty area
Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area
Has maintained satisfactory Clinical Nurse III status for a minimum of one (1) year
Have an overall performance evaluation of ???Strongly Meets??? or higher.
Meets clinical criteria and protocol of Clinical Nurse IV
