We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometrist to join the Comprehensive Division in Westwood. This position involves delivering exceptional patient care while collaborating with a dynamic clinical team in a high-volume setting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform imaging and comprehensive optometric examinations, including refractions, ocular motility, slit lamp biomicroscopy, tonometry, and fundus exams.
Provide patient education through written and verbal communication, addressing questions about surgical options, lens choices, medication, etc.
Participate in the identification and recruitment of patients who are eligible for participation in clinical trials.
Assisting with Urgent Care clinic operations by supporting providers with clinic overflow, coverage, and addressing absences as needed.
Write prescriptions for glasses and authorize medication refills
Salary Range: $85,900-128,900
Qualifications
Required:
Possession and maintenance of an active license to practice optometry from the California Board of Optometry
Exceptional oral and written communication skills including knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology to establish effective working relations with all levels of university staff, faculty, trainees, and patients
Ability to work in a cooperative and collegial fashion with other members of the Division to provide exemplary patient care
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under a variable but often very busy workload
Ability to function in a research environment with patients who are enrolled in clinical study protocols
Ability to learn new routines quickly, to follow routines consistently, and identify better ways of accomplishing routine tasks
Proficiency in Apple and Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word and Excel, email, calendaring programs, and web browsers
Demonstrated or acquired competency in office and medical center based data and electronic records systems (ChartLogic, Epic/Kaleidoscope, etc.)
