Among its world-class facilities is the Bone Marrow Transplantation Program, internationally acclaimed for its expertise in treating pediatric patients with blood cancers and non-malignant hematologic conditions.

Texas Children’s and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have announced a transformational collaboration dedicated to advancing pediatric cancer treatment, research, and clinical trials. This first-of-its-kind joint venture will unite the strengths of the nation’s largest comprehensive pediatric health system with one of the world’s leading cancer centers, accelerating scientific discovery and expanding access to cutting-edge treatments.

At this pivotal time, Texas Children’s is seeking an exceptional leader to guide the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division and Cancer and Hematology Center into the next chapter. Reporting to Dr. Lara Shekerdemian, Pediatrician-in-Chief at Texas Children’s and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, the Division Chief will play a critical role in shaping the future of pediatric hematology and oncology. This leader will collaborate closely with leadership, faculty and staff to advance the Division and Center’s mission of delivering world-class care, driving innovative research, and fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals. They will be a visible and engaged leader, cultivating a culture of collaboration while expanding the Division’s impact on a local, national, and global scale.

This transformational leader will oversee all aspects of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division and the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center, including clinical operations, research initiatives, and educational programs. They will lead a multidisciplinary team, including hundreds of faculty, while spearheading strategic growth opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a visionary and accomplished leader with a proven record of elevating clinical care, advancing groundbreaking research, and fostering academic distinction. They should bring expertise in pediatric hematology/oncology, a history of securing funding for innovative research, and the ability to forge impactful partnerships across organizations. Candidates must hold an MD or MD/PhD with board certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and qualify for a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at the preferred rank Professor at the Baylor College of Medicine. Exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate Professor will be considered.
