The University of Georgia College of Family and Consumer Sciences is seeking applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Director, Love and Money Center non-tenure track, fiscal year position with a 60% administration 30% teaching, 5% research, and 5% service appointment. The successful candidate will fulfill a multifaceted role requiring strong administrative, organizational, communication, and supervisory skills in order to effectively support the Love and Money Center’s (LMC) mission and operations, as well as further develop its regional, national, and international reputation. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic and professional development of students who train within the Love and Money Center through support of onboarding, clinical training, and supervision activities. The successful candidate is expected to play a role in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including but not limited to the LMC’s undergraduate internship and practicum courses for the Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) master’s and doctoral programs. It is expected that CFT content must be responsive to standards outlined by the Commission on Accreditation of Marital and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). If so desired, there may be opportunities to teach content related to financial therapy. The successful candidate may also contribute to scholarly presentations and publications relevant to relational and financial well-being.
Responsibilities:
Support various administrative functions of the Love and Money Center, including clinical onboarding, monitoring compliance, managing internal data, submitting reports, and supporting promotion, marketing, and recruitment activities; teach three undergraduate and/or graduate courses each year; cultivate community relationships and referral channels; coordination of placement sites for doctoral and master’s CFT student internships; develop and support execution of LMC-related outreach events and community training opportunities. This person will participate in department, college, and university governance, as well as in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and other relevant professional organizations.

The Love and Money Center for Relational and Financial Well-Being (LMC) is an interdisciplinary unit of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and a leader in the growing field of financial therapy. Our purpose is to support innovative clinical training, to facilitate outreach programs and low- to no-cost direct services that enhance the relational and financial health of individuals, couples, and families, and to support clinical research that explores these intersections. The Love and Money Center supports two key programs within the College: the Couple and Family Therapy program (Department of Human Development and Family Science) and the Behavioral Financial Planning/Financial Therapy track (Department of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics). The Department of Human Development and Family Science provides leadership in the field via cutting-edge research, pedagogy, and service. We are an interdisciplinary program focusing on individual, relationship, and family development within diverse ecological contexts. Faculty research interests include infancy and childhood, adolescence and young adulthood, adult development and aging, parenting and caregiving, interpersonal relationships, health, and biobehavioral processes, diversity and culture, and contexts of human development. We have a vital program with over 540 undergraduate majors, 36 doctoral students, and 20 faculty operating in a collegial and supportive environment. Faculty in the department collaborate with numerous programs and institutions across campus including the Owens Institute for Behavioral Research, Center for Family Research, Bio-Imaging Research Center, Institute on Human Development and Disability, Institute of Gerontology, McPhaul Child Development Center, and UGA Cooperative Extension. Minimum Requirements:
Earned doctorate degree in Human Development and Family Science or closely related field, earned master’s or doctorate in couple/marriage and family therapy, currently licensed as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) or eligible for LMFT licensure, and obtained or on the path to obtaining AAMFT-approved supervisor status.
Preferred Qualifications:
Have attained AAMFT-approved supervisor designation
Have certificate or credentialing in financial therapy
Have at least 2 years of experience teaching in person and/or online at the university level
Have at least 2 years of administrative experience in a therapy training setting
