The Duke Regional Hospital Operating Room is a dynamic and growing perioperative unit supported by a dedicated team of approximately 50 experienced OR nurses, along with skilled Surgical Technologists and Surgical Attendants. Our team delivers exceptional surgical care across:
- 13 Operating Rooms
- 2 Procedure Rooms
- 1 Cystoscopy Room

Job Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, patient?centered perioperative care in alignment with the DUHS Professional Practice Model. The RN is responsible for delivering and coordinating direct and indirect nursing care using the nursing process to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for surgical patients
- Providing advanced and specialized perioperative nursing care
- Participating in clinical ladder advancement, education, committees, and quality initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with all hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional nursing practice requirements
- Maintaining respectful, collaborative relationships with patients, families, and care team members
Schedule
- Orientation: Monday-Friday, five (5) 8?hour day shifts (6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.)
- Post?orientation: Monday-Friday, three (3) 12?hour shifts (6:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.)
- On?call, holidays, and weekends are required as needed
- Schedule subject to change based on unit needs
