Short Description
Gather and analyze data related to trauma patients and their treatments: Identify Quality Issues as identified by Trauma PIPS plan, and the American College of Surgeons Data Dictionary for the appropriate year
Collect, Validate and enter patient data into the Quality/ Outcomes in the Trauma Registry
Collaborate with trauma registrars for timely data submission, to the National Trauma Databank/ Trauma Quality Improvement Project and State of NJ Trauma Database
Identify issues/ trends in quality issues and report to the Trauma Program Director/ Trauma PI Coordinators
Assist with reports that are needed for Trauma PI forums including, but not limited to Trauma PI, Pediatric Trauma PI, Neurotrauma PI, Trauma M&M, and Pre-Hospital PI
Participate in annual review of applicable trauma registry inclusion criteria
Oversee the definitions for data abstraction as it relates to program specific trauma performance improvement
Oversee data validation efforts to ensure data reliability as it relates to PIPS activities
Experience Required
Minimum of 5 years recent trauma experience required, strong critical care/ trauma background required
Minimum of 3 years experience with trauma registry/ trauma performance improvement process
Experience with Performance Improvement benchmarking programs
Education Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; BSN required, MSN preferred
License/Certification Requirements
ATS Trauma Registry Course
AAIM Coding Course
ICD 10 Coding Course
Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course
TCRN Preferred
Trauma Registry Certification Preferred (CSTR)
Special Requirements
Experience with trauma registry software and data management
Knowledge of medical terminology and trauma care processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
