The Department of Neurobiology at UCLA is hiring a Laboratory Technician to support innovative research focused on astrocytes as therapeutic targets for central nervous system repair and regeneration. This role is integral to advancing cutting-edge neuroscience discoveries in a collaborative academic environment.
The incumbent will perform histology and immunohistochemistry techniques, prepare frozen tissue sections, conduct tissue staining, and acquire high-resolution images using confocal laser scanning microscopy and related imaging platforms. Additional responsibilities include training students and laboratory staff in established laboratory procedures and ensuring high technical and scientific standards are maintained.
We seek a detail-oriented and technically skilled individual who is motivated to contribute to impactful neuroscience research.
Hourly range: $31.23-$50.24
Qualifications
Required:
Experience in basic molecular biology, tissue culture and histological techniques.
Experience in collecting confocal scanned images of central nervous system tissue, and ability to use Image analysis software programs such as Imaris and Image J, and to quickly learn new applications.
Fluency in histological techniques and immunohistochemistry.
Previous experiencing using confocal laser scanning techniques.
Strong organizational skills, ability to maintain complete and accurate records
Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
