The Division of Pediatric Psychiatry and Psychology at Akron Children?s Hospital (ACH) is seeking a pediatric psychologist with interest and expertise in Behavioral Sleep Medicine. This position offers the opportunity to join a growing multidisciplinary team to continue to expand psychology-related services within the present Sleep Medicine program. The selected candidate will work collaboratively in our AASM accredited sleep center as a member of the Sleep Medicine team, which currently includes two physicians board certified in sleep medicine, two psychologists, an advanced practice medical provider, three nurses, and respiratory technologists. The psychologist in this role will see referrals from within Sleep Medicine and other ACH specialties to assess and treat behavioral sleep concerns such as insomnia, nightmare disorders, nighttime fears, circadian rhythm disorders, parasomnias, and concerns with sleep quality (e.g., compliance for treatment of sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome).
In addition to direct clinical work, there will be opportunities for engagement in program development, quality improvement initiatives, clinical outcomes research, and the training of pediatric psychology trainees (e.g., practicum students, fellows), pediatric residents, and pediatric fellows training in developmental behavioral pediatrics and child psychiatry.
Requirements include a doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical psychology (child or pediatric emphasis preferred) from an APA-accredited doctoral program, completion of an APA-accredited internship (child or pediatric emphasis preferred), license eligibility in the State of Ohio, and a strong interest in the practice of evidence-based pediatric psychology. Applicants who have experience in Behavioral Sleep Medicine and have completed a post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology are preferred.
This position is a 501(c)(3) site which qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the Federal government.
