Description We are seeking a child and adolescent psychiatrist to join our expanding hospital-based Psychiatry and Behavioral Health services. At Stony Brook University Hospital, we provide comprehensive, evidence-based mental health services across the lifespan, to a diverse population with a wide range of clinical presentations and psychosocial needs. Stony Brook Children's Hospital is Suffolk County's only children's hospital. We have more than 180 pediatric specialists in 40 specialties. The hospital is Suffolk County's only Level 4 Regional Perinatal Center and Level 1 Regional Pediatric Trauma Center.Ideal candidates will be committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care, and having a desire to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and teach child and adolescent psychiatry fellows and other trainees. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will serve as the attending on weekends and planned coverage on vacation and leave for our 10-bed Inpatient Unit for Children & Adolescents (aged 9-15 years old) and will provide psychiatric consultation to patients admitted to Stony Brook Children's Hospital. Responsibilities include direct patient care involving psychiatric diagnostic evaluations and treatment of on the psychiatric unit with a team consisting of psychologists, behavioral specialists, special education teachers and a school psychologist, social workers, nursing, activities therapists, and fellow and psychiatric consultation and follow up care at the pediatric hospital. This role also involves teaching and supervision of child and adolescent psychiatry fellows. Work Schedule: This is a part-time, 20-hour-per-week position that typically covers weekend Saturday & Sunday shifts. Some flexibility in scheduling is required to meet operational needs, including providing vacation and some Holiday coverage when needed. This may involve working additional weekday hours during a two-week pay period in place of regularly scheduled weekend coverage, based on departmental needs. Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist MD/DO (or foreign equivalent).
Board Eligibility or Board Certification required in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
